Sustainable Transport

£12.35 - £13.61 per hour depending on Qualification

The Royal Borough of Kingston is a Bikeability Provider and a 1st4sport Recognised Delivery Centre (RDC) seeking to recruit Instructor Trainers to deliver the new Level 2 Award in Instructing Cycle Training. As a trainer you could earn up to £544 to deliver the standard 4-day qualification course. There will also be the opportunity to complement your work delivering Bikeability for the Kingston and Sutton shared Environment service.

You will be part of a small team of trainers delivering qualification courses, mentoring visits and professional development courses in London and the South East. You will train to become a Qualified Tutor with a Level 3 Award in Developing Cycle Training Instructors. This course costs in the region of £1,200 and will be fully subsidised for the right candidate.

You must be an existing cycling instructor with at least 2 years’ continuous experience delivering Bikeability to children and adults. You will have a good knowledge of the National Standards for cycle training, their background and latest developments. You will show qualities of a good mentor with excellent communication skills and be able to provide constructive criticism in a fair and positive way. Good IT skills are required with the ability to use on-line platforms for bookings, tasks management and reporting.

This appointment is for a fixed term period of 1 year which is then renewable and will be on a day-to-day basis, subject to the needs of clients and the RDC. There will be no obligation on your part to accept every casual assignment we may offer, or on the Council’s part to offer further assignments. However, it is anticipated that you will deliver a minimum of 30 sessions over the course of 6 months. You are entitled to one twelfth of the annual leave entitlement for the post for each month worked and this entitlement is reflected in the hourly casual rate of pay.

As this post involves direct contact with young people and/or vulnerable adults, a fresh RBK Disclosure will be required from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
