A new Apprenticeship opportunity has arisen within Kingston Council. We are fully committed to providing opportunities for people to develop themselves, through real and varied job roles across the Council. Apprenticeships combine working with studying for a work-based qualification from GCSEs or equivalent up to degree level. The length of the apprenticeship programme varies according to the type and level of apprenticeship but all apprenticeships take at least a year to complete. 

About the role

Are you interested in getting a head start in a career in Electoral Services? The role is for a one-year fixed term contract. This post is aimed at people who have the enthusiasm and energy, are motivated to learn quickly and move their career forward. As an Electoral Services Apprentice, you will be involved in a wide variety of work – everything from processing data into our systems, working closely with other team members to resolve queries and using your own initiative to improve processes. 

This apprenticeship role is within Electoral Services. Electoral Services deal with the organisation of all elections and referendums within the borough and throughout the year on maintaining the electoral register (which is a register of everyone who is eligible to vote). Most recently we have delivered the Local Council elections on 3 May 2018. In the autumn of 2018 Electoral Services will conduct a canvass of all households within the borough to update the Register of Electors in preparation for the publication of the Revised Register of Electors on 1 December 2018.

About you

Previous work experience is not a prerequisite, but we are looking for people with drive, enthusiasm, the right attitude and some core skills such as communication skills, team player and ICT literacy. You must also have the commitment to complete the training and qualifications associated with the apprenticeship.
