Public Health Nutritionist

Salary : Grade I - SP 39 - 44 - £37,098 - £41,847 per annum

Job Term : Permanent

Appointment Type : Full time, 36 hours per week

Location : Guildhall 2, Kingston Upon Thames


This is an exciting time to join the Kingston Public Health Team, part of the recently formed Communities Directorate in Kingston Council.


About the role

We are looking for a dynamic individual with the drive and enthusiasm to implement specific projects that promote healthy eating and tackle big issues such as food poverty and obesity among groups known to be at higher risk of being underweight, overweight or malnourished, in line with local and national strategies and evidence.


Situated in a friendly multidisciplinary team, the successful post holder will be supported to reach their potential whilst being given the autonomy to take the lead on a worthwhile and effective programme of work in their area of professional public health expertise, in nutrition or dietetics.


About you

The post holder will provide their specialist professional public health nutrition or dietetics expertise to colleagues across the Council and beyond to tackle obesity in the borough, including with children and their families, doing prevention work where it has the potential of the greatest impact.


This varied and diverse role will require the post holder to be able to present and prepare the evidence from anything such as licensing objections for fast food outlets to reports on local children’s weight for commissioning appropriate services.


Using excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the post holder will also take the lead on or support numerous partnership initiatives to promote healthy lifestyles across the borough.
