Shared Environment Service (Kingston and Sutton)
Sustainable Transport

£9.76 - £11.98 per hour when fully accredited

The Sustainable Transport Team is seeking to recruit new Cyclist Training Instructors
to deliver training to children and adults in Kingston and/or Sutton. As one of our professional trained instructors you could expect to earn up £190.88 to deliver our standard 10-hour Bikeability course.

The Kingston and Sutton Shared Service is a Bikeability Scheme delivering best practice as set by the National Standard, the government's approved cycle training scheme to get “more people cycling, more safely and more often.”

All cyclist instructors must train on a 4-day professional accreditation course. It is an advantage if you already hold this qualification although not essential as training will be given to the right applicants. So if you are a regular cyclist, have good road sense, are a good communicator and enjoy working outdoors, then this could be just the job for you. If appropriate you will receive further training in First Aid and Maintenance.

RBK is an Instructor Training Organisation (ITO) and for the right candidates, opportunities exist to deliver additional work as part of a small team of Instructor Trainers to deliver accreditation courses and mentoring.

This appointment is for a fixed term period of 1 year renewable and will be on a day-to- day basis, subject to the needs of clients and the Sustainable Transport team. There is no obligation on your part to accept every supply assignments we may offer, or on the Council’s part, to offer further assignments. However, it is anticipated that you will deliver a minimum of 30 sessions over the course of 6 months. You are entitled to one twelfth of the annual leave entitlement for the post for each month worked and this entitlement is reflected in your hourly rate of pay.

As this post involves direct contact with young people, a fresh RBK Disclosure will be required from the Disclosure Barred Service.

For an informal discussion about these positions please telephone Eric Chasseray, Cyclist Training Coordinator on 020 8547 5826 or email
