Assistant Registration Officer/ Deputy Superintendent Registrar

Grade E+1 - £23,187 - £26,274 per annum

Full-time 36 hours per week

At Kingston Register Office we deal with important life events, registering births and deaths and conducting marriage and civil partnership ceremonies.

We are looking to appoint a self-motivated individual who will be willing to respond positively to the rapid changes that are taking place within the local government and the Registration Service.

 

About the role

As part of a professional and dedicated team you will provide support to our Registration Officers and occasionally act as Deputy Registrar working within a legislative framework adhering to strict rules and regulations. You will also take an active role in producing birth, death and marriage certificates from historical records which date back to 1837.

 

You will be a confident speaker prepared to eventually take on the role of conducting ceremonies at the Register Office and at other approved venues throughout the Borough. A requirement of this role will also be working occasional weekends and bank holidays.

 

About you

We are looking for an exceptional person who will have a helpful and tactful approach and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to quality customer care for this role. This is an essential requirement for this post as you will be dealing with people registering births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships in a busy and at times emotional and stressful environment.

 

You will have a strong administrative background and an adaptable approach to your work, ideally having worked in a similar environment. You should be an excellent communicator and possess strong IT skills. Training will be given in all aspects of registration work including the Registration Service’s software applications.
