Residential Care Officer (Dementia Care)
Salary - £22,995 - £24,693 per annum
Contract type - Fixed-term (9 month contract)
Hours - Full time (36 hours per week), part time roles may be available subject to service needs. 

Location - Amy Woodgate Specialist Resource Centre, Chessington, easily accessible via South Chessington rail, K4 from Surbiton rail, Buses 71, 465, 467

 

About us

The Amy Woodgate Specialist Resource is based in Chessington and is a centre that provides a residential and day care service for older people with dementia. They work to promote independence within a secure, safe, caring environment, ensuring all residents are treated with dignity and respect and as individuals. Amy Woodgate is committed to making sure that each resident and service user receives a fair and person-centred approach to their care and use the Eden Alternative to ensure that the residents get the very best out of their daily lives. 

 

About the role  

We are looking for individuals with compassion, who can be trusted by our clients who can be confused and frightened and need that calm reassurance when they feel sad or alone. This can ultimately help manage better outcomes and living for those with Dementia as carers can provide invaluable insights and communication as they get to know and support the clients as individuals , especially as they cannot sometimes express their pain or emotions. Help is needed too with they often need help with basic nutrition, hydration, hygiene and mobility. These roles inspire pride and at Amy Woodgate we recognise and celebrate the wonderful work and commitment of our staff

 

About you

You may have been a carer, or perhaps are currently one and are looking to really make a difference to another’s life so we welcome applications from all ages and backgrounds, who have been volunteers or cared in any capacity for others. In return, we will require you to hold an NVQ level 2 in care qualification and have a genuine regard and respect for older people and to work across a range of shifts, on a three weekly cycle, with flexibility as long as we ensure excellent care for our clients and include the following patterns:

  • 7.30 am to 2.30pm (daytime)
  • 2.30pm to 9.30pm (daytime)
  • 9.30pm to 7.30 am (evenings)
  • 2 out of 3 weekends
