At Kingston, we are passionate about our Royal Borough and want to be known as a Council that is an exemplar for citizen engagement. This is a new era for the Council, and we are redefining the relationships we have with our residents, community groups, businesses, voluntary sector, central government and other partners.

About us
The Council is focused on delivering the best possible outcomes for its communities. To do this the Council needs employees who thrive in an agile and networked organisation and who can support continuous improvement within a constructive organisational culture. The library service in Kingston is at a very exciting point in its development, having been through a period of transformation and looking to the future.

The Community Library Service is a key service and part of this transformation. The Community Library Service delivers books and other materials to homebound residents in their own homes and in residential care settings. Traditionally this service has served older residents but we are keen to reach a wider cohort of residents who are homebound, such as carers, people with a disability or long term illness and people just home from hospital.

About you
We are seeking an innovative person with excellent interpersonal skills to work with the Development Manager to look at different service delivery models for the Community Library Service in partnership with Adult Social Care and Public Health.

The Community Library Service Officer will work with the Development Manager to introduce new ways to deliver the Community Library Service through digital technologies and will be responsible for the efficient and effective day to day operation of the Community Library Service.

About the role
The Community Library Service Officer will oversee and participate in regular deliveries to individuals in their own homes, residential and care homes in the borough. The successful candidate would need to have a full driving license, needs to be creative in finding solutions and will be required to work effectively with key stakeholders within and outside of the Council to raise the profile of the Service. They will also be responsible for the recruitment, training and coordination of volunteers to add value to the Service demonstrating their adaptability in mindset and ways of working.
