Electoral Services Manager
Grade: K - £50,826 - £56,100 plus a Market Supplement of up to 15% for an outstanding candidate, per annum
Hours: Full-time, 36 hours per week
Contract: Permanent

About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and dedicated elections professional to lead our Electoral Services team and take day to day responsibility for the delivery of all elections and electoral registration functions.

About you
As the principal advisor to the Returning Officer on electoral matters you will have expert knowledge of the law, practice and procedures relating to electoral registration and the conduct of elections and referendums as well as practical experience leading the delivery of large elections, including Parliamentary, Borough and, preferably, GLA. You will be a member of the Association of Electoral Administrators and hold either the AEA Certificate or Diploma in Electoral Administration.

You will also possess excellent ICT, communication and project management skills, meticulous attention to detail, be used to working under pressure and to tight deadlines and willing to involve yourself ‘hands on’ in the operational as well as strategic activities of the team.

Experience in the management of an Electoral Services team is essential, together with the drive, energy, innovation and creativity to develop the service and provide effective and inspirational leadership of a new team at the start of its journey towards Borough Elections under new ward boundaries in 2022.

The role is based at the Guildhall, Kingston Upon Thames, but there is considerable scope for virtual working if desired. You will be expected to work additional hours, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays, during election periods. Outside of these times the Elections team is piloting a flexible working hours arrangement which maximises work-life balance opportunities.
