At Kingston, we are passionate about our Royal Borough and want to be known as a Council that is an exemplar for citizen engagement. This is a new era for the Council, and we are redefining the relationships we have with our residents, community groups, businesses, voluntary sector, central government and other partners.

About us
The Council is focused on delivering the best possible outcomes for its communities. To do this the Council needs employees who thrive in an agile and networked organisation and who can support continuous improvement within a constructive organisational culture. The library service in Kingston is at a very exciting point in its development, having been through a period of transformation and looking to the future.

The Community Library Service is a key service that regularly delivers books and other materials to homebound residents in their own homes and in residential care settings. Traditionally this service has served older residents but we are keen to reach a wider cohort of residents who are homebound, such as carers, people with a disability or long term illness and people just home from hospital.

About the role
We are looking for a creative and agile person for the role of Community Library Service Support Officer who will work with the Community Library Service Officer to support the efficient and effective day to day operation of the Community Library Service with responsibility for stock, equipment and monies. The Support Officer will also participate in regular deliveries to individuals in their own homes, residential and care homes in the borough and will support partnership working across the Council and with the voluntary and community sector.

About you
The Community Library Service Support Officer will work with the Development Manager and the Community Library Service Officer to introduce new ways to deliver the Community Library Service, questioning and challenging current ways of working and showing enthusiasm for the introduction of digital technologies. The Support Officer will also assist with the training and co-ordination of volunteers to add value to the Service. The successful candidate would need to have a full driving license.
