About the role
The Business Support Service brings together many of the day to day support functions from across the organisation into one centralised service.  We are currently recruiting to multiple roles in our Place Hub which is focussed on support to our Planning and Building Control Service. The role requires demonstrable experience of working as a Validations Officer or similar in a Planning Support function.

The Business Support Officer - Planning & Validations role, which sits in the Place Hub pays particular focus to the following:
  • The Validation of all types of planning applications using Uniform (Idox). This includes:
determining the completeness of the application
checking submissions against national and local checklists and relevant guidance
checking the accuracy of the drawings
plotting the site, running constraints and selecting neighbours with whom to consult
checking the plans match the proposed description of work
identifying and notifying statutory and non-statutory consultees in compliance with the Council's requirements
producing and issuing Registration/ Acknowledgement and Invalid Application letters
processing amendments
  • Using Uniform (Idox) to redact, upload and update all documents and relevant information relating to Planning Applications
  • Providing information, guidance and advice as required to applicants, agents and members of the public in respect of the planning application process
  • Provide responses to correspondence and telephone enquiries, complaints and e-mails within the Council’s Corporate timescales.
  • Liaison with officers in development management, planning policy and other departments.
  • To undertake other duties and responsibilities of a similar nature and responsibility to those described above, which may be allocated to provide cover for absent team members, e.g. processing planning appeals, CIL & Section 106 support, management of departments email inbox.
