The post holder will have a major contribution to make to the delivery of the vision for Kingston as set out in it’s “Kingston plan” by being an innovative practitioner who engages with users in the design of high quality services. You will work with internal and external partners to promote positive outcomes for the individuals on your case load in a friendly and supportive team of Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy support coordinators. We are working towards integrated ways of working with our social work colleagues and our colleagues in health.

We provide a person centered and responsive service with a focus on prevention, empowering users and their carers, maximising independence and quality of life. You will work with a varied case load of adults with disabilities.
The main responsibilities of the post will be:
• To manage a caseload including those with complex needs and those who may be at high risk.
• To carry out assessments of individuals, including, functional assessments, moving and handling assessments and housing assessments.
• To identify and plan for short and long term needs.
• To prescribe appropriate equipment.
• To recommend major adaptations to maintain people in their own homes.

In order to carry out these responsibilities the successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following skills:
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
• Good assessment and case management skills.
• Sound clinical practice standards.
• Recognises financial pressures and the need to provide value for money.
• Sound knowledge of relevant legislation and social care initiatives and priorities.
• Display a commitment to own and team’s personal development and learning

You will need to hold a Diploma or Degree in OT, have current registration with the HCPC

Ideally, you will also have social services experience, although this is not essential.
