Kingston Music Service (KMS) is the lead organisation for the Kingston Music Education Hub which is funded by Arts Council England.

 

The service is a forward thinking and vibrant department providing high quality instrumental lessons, music ensembles, concerts, festivals and support to schools across the borough. We are passionate about offering a progressive and inclusive music education to our pupils providing them with a variety of inspiring experiences.

 

This post provides an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the development of the service and help broaden and grow the range of services we offer within Kingston.

 

About the role

The Senior Manager will:

  • Provide inspirational and constructive leadership to the Kingston Music Service ensembles and their conductors to ensure high levels of engagement and performance
  • Oversee the organisation and running of the ensembles including the recruitment of students
  • Manage all concerts and events ensuring our young people have a large variety of high quality performance opportunities
  • Manage and develop the first access wider opportunities programme
  • Extend pathways from first access in to instrumental learning

About You

The post holder needs to have an excellent up to date knowledge of music education including music examination curricula and national initiatives.

 

They should ideally have management experience (including the observation of staff, appraisals and leading inset or training for staff) and a passion for providing high quality music experience for pupils.

 

As this role may involve some teaching alongside mentoring of staff, you should be an exemplary music teacher, and be able to inspire children and play a key role in promoting the service aim of providing inspirational musical experiences for all children.
